Memphis International Airport (MEM) - Guide to Memphis (MEM) Airport

Many people elect to visit Memphis by car due to the city's main attractions being situated on the fringes of the city. It's relatively simple to reach the city, with the north-south I-55 and the east-west I-40 both providing quick, comfortable access from Jackson, St. Louis, Nashville, Knoxville and farther afield. Upon reaching the outer regions of the city, you can take I-240, which circles the city and has many exits leading to the most popular inner-city roads and streets.

Memphis is reachable by train, albeit less conveniently than by car or air. Amtrak's City of New Orleans service stops in Memphis on its way between Chicago and New Orleans, but the service is limited to one train from either direction daily.

Memphis International Airport serves the city with direct flights to many US cities and some Canadian and European airports. The airport is located just nine miles southeast of downtown and there are taxis and shuttles awaiting each arrival to transit passengers to their accommodation.
